Our Story
In April 2022, Conversation with the Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora (CCCD)
emerged from the inspiration of the President, Gwendolyn King, who pitched her idea for an online suite
of discussions to a diverse group of professionals of Caribbean heritage. Mindful that migration has been
a main feature of Caribbean life, conscious of Caribbean peoples’ need to remain rooted, and guided
by an optimism that the space will attract a critical mass of Caribbean talent from their global
locations to participate, the CCCD Inc. launched its first public online Conversation in June 2022. The
CCCD is also committed to a collaborative pan-Caribbean project, funded by donations, to curate
artifacts of cultural value- material, digital and in other forms- to reinforce the evidence of Caribbean
excellence.
Lead conversationalists volunteer their time to deliver topics in areas of their expertise in an accessible
format to generate an exchange of ideas with and among the participants. CCCD is proving to be a
consequential pan-Caribbean, trans-continental, platform. Its monthly conversations dive into critical
developmental achievements and challenges facing individual countries, the region and its dynamic
diaspora. The monthly, live Conversations online draw on the expertise and experiences of its audience
to amplify Caribbean voices. Its convening power is growing with each presentation and portends
potential for collaboration at the governmental and non-governmental levels. It has progressively
become an outlet for substantive Conversations on geopolitical developments, economic trends, global
health impacts, investment and cultural opportunities for a better-informed Caribbean public. The lively
Conversations in diverse Caribbean languages and intonations provide the ideal
environment for a Caribbean ‘lime’ online in which varying forms of intellectualism and mobilization of
ideas can thrive. Join in the Conversation!
