Inaugural Gala

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley honored with Conversation with the Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora’s (CCCD) Inaugural Impact Award

New York, New York (11 October 2024) – At a brief but impactful ceremony at the office of the Consulate General of Barbados in New York, Conversation with the Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora (CCCD) honored Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of the Republic of Barbados.   Gwendolyn King, the President of the CCCD joined Consul General Harewood in expressing the group’s gratitude for the impact Prime Minister Mottley has had in stirring Caribbean pride as the region reclaims leadership roles on issues ranging from climate action to health equity and justice.

CCCD recognized that meaningful conversations are catalysts for change. By bringing together leaders and professionals of Caribbean heritage, the platform aims to elevate discourse around critical issues impacting the region. These discussions are not just about rhetoric; they are about actionable steps toward sustainable development. Whether it is education, healthcare, or social justice, CCCD seeks to spark conversations that would create a positive impact.

Within this vibrant discourse, the idea of the Caribbean Impact Award was born. Why? Because impact deserves recognition. The artists, advocates, educators, and community builders who shape our islands and diaspora often work tirelessly for collective upliftment and empowerment. Their impact ripples outward, touching lives and leaving legacies. The award is a way to celebrate, to applaud their audacity, and to inspire others to follow suit.

Prime Minister Mottley’s relentless advocacy for Caribbean and Global Affairs earns her high praise and the CCCD hopes that this inaugural Caribbean Impact Award not only stirs conversations for change, and but also recognizes everyday heroes who make the region an incubator for audacity, innovation and thought leadership.
